I asked my doc for anxiety meds and he told me no no no about three or four times before my therapist and him talked. Then he freaked out and referred me for meds to a Pdoc. I didn't get actual anxiety meds until late last year. Docs don't like to prescribe the benzodiazepine drugs that actually are fantastic. You have to be super careful though that you don't build up a tolerance or get addicted. Mine are for emergencies only.
