well it sounds like you did the right thing then, and now it is time to do the right thing for yourself... and that IS to reach out and find a new T. Perhaps this could be one of your questions during interview? The new T's reaction and response might tell you quite a bit...

yes, they have to mind their words because some ppl do make things up to get a reaction from Ts, but it's important to you so it should be to them too... and they need to treat it with care... up to you
