I notice that this thread is a few days old, but because of the potential for danger I wanted to add that if there is a potential for underlying issues with Bipolar, St. Johns Wort can trigger mania. It happened to me, and it was just as strong a reaction as I have experienced with prescribed SSRI's sans mood stabilizer.
