My cat had his 19th birthday yesterday. He's been ill for a few years- vision impaired, deaf, arthritis, increasing kidney insufficiency, hyperthyroidism... Over the last few weeks he's had a couple of urine tests which showed an infection in the kidneys and he had a blood test done a few days ago. We got the news today- his kidneys have now gone into failure. They don't know how long he has... the vets are going to research all of his medicinal options to slow down the kidney progression but I guess it will probably come down to us deciding when is the best point to say goodbye. I always hoped he'd go by himself first.
