She has NO CLUE that what she did was wrong! We went past Dee's house on her walk tonight and she wanted to go right back in her house! I gave her what for when she killed the bird, too, and I just didn't say "Bad Dog!!!"

I'm so disappointed in her!

I am so sorry to here that happened. Like You said above she had "No Clue" what she did wrong. Maybe Amber ran in the house thinking that Dee's daughter was in there and wanted to offer her food? Maybe she was just really excited?
IMHO-People and animals are so unpredictable we have no idea what is going through there heads and what they will do next. Do you know what you want to do with Amber? How long has she been your pet for? That can reflect alot on your decision that you will have to soon make

As losing a friend or family member animals become a big part of our lives as well and you can go through the same grieving process. Dee should open up to you. Like I said it was really out of your control. She has no right to put blame on you. Especially if they open there door to feed Amber. She see's the door open and run's in. Maybe that's what she is used to.
It's not your fault and a friendship should not be dammaged for this. It's Dee's grieving time she will be hurt, but will move on.
Offering or buying a bird for her is nice

but she may not seem very appreciative in the beginning. Dee will eventually see the whole picture.
This is only my opinion ok. That's all.
I really hope all will work out for you.
