Well I knew one person that has Bipolar (without a doubt) and he took Lithium and other meds.

I saw him smoke Marijuana and personally could not notice any problems but when I saw him heavily intoxicated one night, he seemed EXTREMELY manic.

If you are having strong cravings for alcohol, personally I have found Naltrexone very helpful in many cases (but not all).

I don't like AA either. A general Councillor from a drug support agency may be able to help or a psychiatrist with a special interest in addiction, or a general psychologist.
