For all the people who responded to me on how I might best help my friend and anyone else interested. He is now on 72-hour hold after being in jail overnight, being released and trying to destroy a business a family member worked at. This time, they took him to the nearby hospital for evaluation. I think his sister and friends will be able to sleep for at least a few days, knowing he can't hurt himself or disappear and not know what's going on. As much as I hated being in a psych ward, I know it will be the best place for him. And even though he may hate me now, at least he can hate me and possibly work to feel better and take care of himself. Thank you everyone for your support.
