It sounds like he has been a good friend. If you can handle the feelings, it would be a shame to give that up. But it is troublesome to me that he wasn't supportive of you getting treatment so that you can live. You did the right thing by getting help. I believe in God too, but faith without works is dead, and sometimes God gives us resources such as treatment, and He expects us to do our part to work it out. But it isn't uncommon that people who haven't been there don't understand that mental illness isn't just a matter of changing your attitude and having faith that it will go away.
It's your decision (and Rex's) whether or not you can still be friends with him. If you can both handle it, why give up a good thing? But I do hope that you have other friends too, and that you don't expect more from each other than the other is prepared to give. Make sense?
