The thing about showers and many other daily/every other day chores is that it's never done once and for all. You have to keep doing it again and again. Clean the house again. Go grocery shopping again. Eat again. Sleep every night. So many things that have to be done over and over. And they're not very interesting to do, hence the drudgery.
