The therapist I saw about 15 years ago was probably a raging narcissist. She told me she was the only therapist in my city who could do couple's counseling properly, she told me I could not quit without her permission, she told me I loved her, she told someone else I knew who saw her that if the acquaintance quit seeing her and went to work (she had been on short term disability and wanted to go back to work) that she would fail and her children would be taken away (the woman had a supportive husband and the children had a therapist who said they were doing great), and other horror stories about her abound.(I found out after I quit seeing her).
Happily I only stayed a few short months. There was definitely no regret when I quit for me.
