My 3 year old just had an appt with our family dr today. A few weeks ago she had a double ear infection that wouldn't go away and he wanted to see her to be sure it was gone. She has been having weird temper tantrums the last few weeks that she's never had before where she just absolutely loses it. She was having one when he came in the room (I can't even remember why) and untold him about the sudden tantrums. He asked some questions and said it could be a rare side effect of the meds (it started 2-3 days after starting on them) or he thinks that based on family history (my moms side all has history of mental illness) he thinks she may have OCD. Some of her behaviours make sense if its true, for example:
Her first tantrum was because she had to go to the bathroom and she wanted to use a specific bathroom in the mall. We were going to the grocery store so I told her to wait until we got there and we'd use that one. She threw a fit for 45 mins and even after we went to the bathroom she wanted, she screamed "I used the bathroom at sobeys, I didn't want to use the bathroom at sobeys!"
If she pees/poops in the bathroom, she will freak out if I try to pee unless she flushes first. She will yell "don't pee in my pee!"
About a year ago I posted here about her being terrified of the lights/fans on the ceiling in the mall and especially Walmart. She would not be able to take her eyes off the ceiling and had to be carried because she would scream, terrified. She eventually grew out of that.
There's a bit more small things, like having to sit
In certain seats on the bus and freaking out sometimes if I sit by her. Does this sound like OCD or just her quirkiness?
