It depends on the medication. The newer anti-psychotics(ie Zyprexa, Geodon, etc) can work for psychosis and mood, but the older ones like Thorazine will probably work more for psychosis than mood. It's possible that she needs a mood stabilizer along with the anti-psychotic.

Also, all that speaks quickly is not mania. It could be mania, but it could also be psychotic agitation/excitement.
