I know exactly what you mean when you say you try to keep busy to avoid thinking about things..
I do that too.
I think you should try to call and speak with yout T or at least try to get and earlier appointment.
I know it is not easy.
They will not think you are scarey looney! They are used to dealing with people like us everyday.
