I don't think this is something one should do on their own, even if they have support from family or friends.

Opiate withdrawal can be very difficult physically and mentally. I think it's best for one to speak to their prescribing doctor about wanting to stop taking the opiate and ask for help with the withdrawal symptoms. There are meds that can be prescribed (short term meds) that can help with the symptoms.
