I am not clear if your father is just saying finish up the three courses in good standing before getting all excited about your new stuff in February or trying to get you to stay in technoanthropology.
I think you have to know that no courses are going to be exciting all the time. Even your new love will have courses you do not enjoy. But it is important, as your father says, to embrace whatever you are in/studying and do it as well as you can, not pick and choose, just doing the project and ignoring the courses, etc. All you "learn" from that is to not finish what you start! It sounds like this may not be the first time you have expressed an interest and then gotten bored with it and not finished it in good standing?
I would show your father you could do well in technoanthropology if that were where your heart lay but you prefer the other. Finish what you started in good form and then change and I bet he will have a response more in line with what you would like?
