Only you can decide if the benefits of meds outweigh the risks/side effects. The way I have it right now, I have no sex drive and gained ten pounds. But I was stable for the first time in months. So for me it worked. When I was on lithium though, I never saw any benefits and the side effects were such that I would never try it again.
It's up to you whether you can take the side effects.
