I've been on Lamictal for about 6 years now. Has helped enormously with depression and somewhat with the milder hypomania's. But it is not enough to prevent full-blown mania in my case. I take Seroquel as well, for this. I don't think it's known to be activating. Some people, I think, take it for unipolar depression and as someone mentioned, I've heard of it being prescribed for BPD.
