Where is he from? Long distance relationships can be very fulfilling in the beginning from my own personal experience. You are forced to get to know each other through words, conversation, texts, letters, e-mail, etc. versus the typical face-to-face relationships that usually rush physical intimacy right away. Long distance relationship can force two people to become quite creative in ways to learn one another and feel closer. The downfall -- you never truly know the person until you meet them and even then you don't know the person until you are actually in their environment and life for a good amount of time. Also, the distance does eventually catch up and you come to find you need more than what conversation, mobile devices, etc. have to offer. It can either work or not depending on how dedicated two people are about closing the distance. It can also cause quite a bit of heartache if expectations are not met in the end.
