(((((Sky)))))
When you say that you are second guessing yourself, I know exactly what you mean. I've been through it a few times and felt exactly the same at first. What helps me the most is remembering that the first time, with my dog Barney, I waited too long, I let him suffer too long because I was the one who couldn't let go. I feel guilty to this day sometimes still.
When it came time with my next two pets, both cats, I knew that I had done everything medically possible for as long as possible for them but that letting them go was the best thing I could do for THEM, regardless of how much I loved them and would miss them. I remembered how I promised myself that after that first time, I would never let one of my pets suffer again.
You're not alone in this, as I can see by all the responses! Well, I'm bawling now!
big hugs, p.poo
