The song isn't the whole story. Remember when you were a kid and instantly ran down the beach into the water and couldn't figure out adults because they stayed on the shore and wanted to lay in the sun and you vowed you'd never be like that? There's a million ways that life changes so when you're older you have the "same" opportunities and different/better ones too that you had when you were young. You see things differently when you're older. I'm getting what I denied myself 30+ years ago, almost exactly as I wanted it but back then I realize now I didn't have a clue what it was or why I wanted it. What seems like a waste now, may not be. We can't know how our future life is going to weave things together and work out.
