RTS - Could you take the ibuprofen and go to bed now? Can your sons help with the dishes and laundry while your husband goes to the store? You are HURT/INJURED. That means your family needs to help you out.
I am not trying to be unkind here, but I think you could up your expectations for help in this instance if not in general.

He can help you out and you not be beholdened to him. You do not have to take that on.
