I have bp 1, & take a bunch of stuff, but one winter a few years ago I sank into depression (I have a bit of SAD) which for me escalates into suicidal thinking really fast. I called the pdoc & was put on Wellbutrin. I can't remember the dose now, but I wasn't slowly building up the dose. It was just take this much & that's that. It works fairly fast for me, but I seem to be very sensitive to medications & have results in a matter of days instead of weeks.
I stayed on the Wellbutrin that winter & was able to get off it in the spring. I haven't had to take it since, but it worked great for me. (Also, for me, it had the opposite of the sexual side effects they warn you about on some AD's. I told a friend of mine who was on Zoloft that it really perked me up in that dept. & she was having trouble with that & tried Wellbutrin--she freaked out--had panic attacks & couldn't get off it fast enough to go back to her Zoloft).--Suzy
