My T told me that I sent her an email & I know I didn't. I also signed the note in my formal name which only my parents really use. This made me feel very naked?! Why would I email my T & the other "part" was asking for help from her to deal w/ me. Do you have an alter or part that talks about you? It makes me very nervous. Does that make sense? It happened in the middle of the nite which I vaguely remember if @ all. Is any of this possible.
During my session yesterday I was explaining to my T that the last time we met I hated & had bells & whistles go off when she leaned forward in her chair. I know she was showing me that she was listening but inside I was hanging on the ceiling. She said she understood that, but @ that time I showed no indication of being uncomfortable; not a flicker.
She said that it's a very skilled person to have so much control. She said she was impressed.
What was she really saying to me? I didn't get it.
Thanks for the advice.

some people that I know here in NY with DID dissociate and then have what new york calls out of body experience where because they have such a high ability to dissociate they can take their self mentally out of their body. this kind of thing doesnt only happen with DID so its technically not called watching an alter. people who use illegal mushrooms and other drugs can also experience out of body watching self do things, so can some forms of religions and cultures. in my native american culture what you describe is called going on a vision quest. the mental health treatment providers here that I see do not consider it to be watching my alters, when it happens with me they call it out of body experience.
that said the DSM new diagnostics does include this kind of thing but not in the DID diagnostic criteria. being an outside observer in the DSM 5 is called depersonalization/derealization disorder....
you can read here
http://forums.psychcentral.com/disso...s-dsm-5-a.html more about the dissociative disorders and what american treatment providers are beginning to use now for dissociative problems
basically what Im trying to say is that what you describe happens alot and different locations, cultures, religions,....call it by many different things.
to get the answer to your question as it applies to you and your mental disorders you will need to contact your own treatment providers. they will tell you what this out of body watching self do things is called where you are.
