In my opinion, the fact that you are not doing it a lot does not help. Just because you are not doing it a lot does not mean your problems are diminished, or the urges you experience and the causes of those urges are smaller. As for your last question, it could either mean that you care or that you're trying to minimize the problem. Anyways, these are just what I think. Best of luck.
