Growing up, I always wanted one of those 10 speed bikes with chrome wheels.....& I definitely wanted a boys bike....not the sissy girls bike.....

So what did my parents buy for me....a girls Schwinn bike with white painted wheels (interesting how we see things as a kid).....I rode it but not that much.

However when I got my first job (when I finally got into college).....the first thing I bought with my pay checks was a Nishiki 10 speed "BOY'S bike".....it was difficult to find one small enough for me as was always short 5ft 1" with very short legs. I got the smallest bike possible & always needed to stop with a curb close by......but I rode that bike 20 miles a day to & from work.....& I had friends that loved to ride...so we would take off & meet somewhere in the San Fernando Valley in Calif & ride the whole day, exploring the valley.....it was definitely a wonderful freeing feeling. I think my mother still had the bike they bought for me when I cleared out the house after she died....but I really can't remember too much about that period of time......

I doubt that I would trust riding a bike on these farm roads here in KY....they are narrow & there is no place to go off the road except into a ditch.....so my riding days are over besides the fact that my old 10 speed bike is still back in Calif where most of my things ended up being left when I finally left my H.

Now I stick to 4 legged HORSE power to do my trail riding on.
