"Bipolar. It has it's ups and downs." - Unknown Source

“If you know someone who’s depressed, please resolve never to ask them why. Depression isn’t a straightforward response to a bad situation; depression just is, like the weather.

Try to understand the blackness, lethargy, hopelessness, and loneliness they’re going through. Be there for them when they come through the other side. It’s hard to be a friend to someone who’s depressed, but it is one of the kindest, noblest, and best things you will ever do.” - Stephen Fry (not exactly in regards to Bipolar specifically, but he's diagnosed with it and, of course, depression is a part of Bipolar).

"The point about manic depression or bipolar disorder, as it's now more commonly called, is that it's about mood swings. So, you have an elevated mood. When people think of manic depression, they only hear the word depression. They think one's a depressive. The point is, one's a manic-depressive." - Stephen Fry.

"You can't reason yourself back into cheerfulness any more than you can reason yourself into an extra six inches in height." - Stephen Fry

"There's no doubt that I do have extremes of mood that are greater than just about anybody else I know." - Stephen Fry.

Oh dear. I'm absolutely obsessed with Stephen Fry. He is a wonderful man with Bipolar Disorder (Cyclothamia, I believe) and has the intelligence of an entire University in his head.

“I now know for certain that my mind and emotions, my fix on the real and my family's well-being, depend on just a few grams of salt. But treatment's the easy part. Without honesty, without a true family reckoning, that salt's next to worthless.” - David Lovelace speaking about Bipolar and Lithium.
