I took 10 mg LI orotate (elemental 10 mg. which is two 120mg pills from Doctor's Best brand) for several months before taking Li carbonate. The carbonate just "feels" better in my body, but to be fair i am on a small, maintenance dose right now. I can't say that the Li orotate did anything adverse at all, in fact it made me feel a bit better for sure. I would take it again in a heart beat if I didn't have access to Li carbonate.
