When I was diagnosed in 2011, I had medicade and was able to do DBT through the county hospital, but had to wait on a waitinglist. Wish I hadn't flunked out with substance abuse issues 8 months in, cuz now I have private PPO insurance and I can't really find anyone.
and I live in a major city in SoCal. Not too far from LA or other major cities and I still have found very few places that will do DBT unless I wanna pay hundreds of thousands of dollars that I don't have.
I'll have to go 30 miles from my house to start the program I'm considering, and even with insurance the co-pay is gonna be like $240 a month.
So it's everywhere. I believe many therpists think of PD's in a negative light and don't wanna deal with that sort of thing.
I hope that changes soon. but if you look online there is do-it-your self self help DBT type of stuff, and meetup groups.
Thanks for this!
