Is the desire to travel a trait of mania? Did this trait help humans populate new regions? Thoughts?

All I know is that it's very boring here in the pacific northwest area (Washington/Oregon), and that I really want to go somewhere where English isn't the official language.

I just blew over 1k yesterday on a single purchase but I know it was the right choice because the cashier gave me a penny back in change that was minted the year I was born and marked with the letter my first name begins with.
