I haven't had personal experience with IOP but I have generally heard pretty good things. It means you can still get a lot of the support you had in hospital while also starting to relearn how to manage at home. I would suggest in your first session sitting down and trying to get your questions answered. There should be some sort of orientation on your first session that would allow that. You might also be able to clarify the diagnosis then.

I would wait and see about the BPD diagnosis. Unfortunately it is often not always an accurate diagnosis, especially when someone is acutely unwell which is why it may not have been listed at discharge. Focus on what you know - the things that you are struggling with currently and needing help with now. The diagnosis at the moment isn't as important as the symptoms you are experiencing and needing help with.
