I use visualizations for when I need to sleep but can't. I imagine a stage on which all my current thoughts are zooming about, and a huge broom. The broom sweeps the thoughts away one by one, when I've swept away these racing thoughts, I picture a tranquil setting. A picnic on a cliff, my daugher and myself watching the waves. I hold onto this picture until I manage to fall asleep.
I tried your shield once, and it seemed helpful, but I was in no shape to actually learn a new coping skill since I was already in the thick of it. Thanks for the reminder V
