Alex,
gaming can be a great way to escape reality, but they are also a trap. After a while, you start to live more in the cyber world than you do the real world. This is especially true if you are already suffering with depression. You don't have to face anyone, you become completely absorbed in the game and it begins to seem more real than the world outside the game.
To tell you to just get out and start doing things would be too simple. It sounds like you are depressed enough and in such a deep rut that you need a therapist to help you out. There is a reason why you are depressed, and while that constant gaming didn't cause the depression, its allowing you to hide and make the outside world go away.
It may be that no one can tell you why you were hit with the depression. It could be a chemical imbalance or purely psychological. There is no shame in either. The longer you wait to get help, the harder it will be and the deeper you will fall into your depression.
At some point, you might want to set limits for yourself with the gaming. Set aside an hour or two and when the time is up, quit. Gaming is an addiction for some, and you might want to talk about a therapist on strategies to get the games into perspective. You could also use them as a reward. For example, pick a task that has to be done, such as finding a therapist, and don't let yourself play on the computer or x box or whatever until its done.
Either way, please get some help. You don't need to live in misery with no human contact.
