There are so many things we can choose to focus our attention on. Why not choose to focus on things that build you up instead of pull you down? Thich Nhat Hanh says we have all the seeds in our store conscious (subconscious). Fear, anger, hate. Peace, joy, calm. Which seeds grow and get strong depend on which we tend to and water. And also on which seeds the people around us water. If you think angry thoughts, the seed of anger gets stronger, for example.

Leaving aside the issue of whether the conspiracies are true or not, people who focus on scary conspiracies feed their seeds of fear and paranoia. I guess I don't understand why you would choose to immerse your psyche in that kind of negativity.

Another way of thinking of this is the story of the two wolves:

Quote:
One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two wolves inside us all.

“One is Evil – It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

“The other is Good – It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

I would say that spending a lot of time with conspiracy theorists - especially since you're already paranoid - is watering the wrong seeds and feeding the wrong wolf.
