I have said it and written it. Initially, I felt very sad (masked as angry) when she didn't say it back. Now I realize I would have completely freaked out if she HAD said it, because she has said other very nice things and it made me want to run out the door. I do know there is a unique kind of love in the room and for now, that is enough. Her boundary ended up working out perfectly even though it was very emotionally upsetting at the time.

Definitely tell your therapist. It is YOUR space and you will grow so much from it, no matter what the response. Nothing is wasted in therapy!
