Your cyclical description of anxiety is my case exactly. It puzzles me as well that I can be absolutely functioning well, handling stress just fine, and something comes along that doesn't even seem as stressful as other things I've handled just fine, but it sends me into a tizzy! This usually lasts a few days as well, where I just am not able to function. Then I usually go back to functional after that.

I would recommend any type of cognitive behavioral therapy..and REBT is a good one...I believe it was designed by Albert Ellis. I think it will depend on whether it works for you. The other, more general form of CBT was designed by Aaron Beck...so you can look that one up too.

I had more psychodynamic therapists too and they didn't do much besides let me get through that episode...but the cognitive therapy actually works on the root of the issues (thoughts anyway...)
