In psychodynamic therapy, it is a good thing because the therapist uses it to learn about the client.
The therapist can also use their countertransference feelings to understand the client.
Working through the transference is the goal.
CBT focuses less on transference. In fact, I had a CBT tell me the relationship is important, but the transference is not.
Alot of people use "transference" here incorrectly ....and I think people use the term psychodynamic therapy incorrectly as well.
