From what I understand of it, it's not something you can do alone, it's an actual therapy modality and requires a T to orchestrate it all. Perhaps she is talking more about your working on developing a narrative of your own life? Or is she thinking of referring you to someone who specializes in narrative therapy? I think it's really interesting, but over here in UK there is only a handful of therapists who practise it and they are few and far between. I'd be interested to know what you do about this, if you take her up on her suggestion...
