I was prescribed Lexapro 5 weeks ago, but then a week ago the psychiatrist in the partial hospitalization program added Wellbutrin. He explained that the two work together well to treat all the brain chemical deficiencies that can cause depression; Lexapro, a Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor treats serotonin defeciency; and Wellbutrin, in a class whose name I can't remember but basically says they treat for two chemicals, covers dopamine and norepaphine(sp?). It's already greatly helping.
I know Prozac is an SSRI, and Effexor is a dual-acting or whatever, so it sounds like that's what your doctor was doing in prescribing two.
