I would make a list of my problems that I would like to do something with/about and maybe make notes whether each one is getting better or not with meds, rank order them and then pick the top three to work on? Do a bit of an experiment figuring out how to work on them by yourself/with your support group and decide after you have whether you want further help from a therapist? You could try a six-month experiment, say, and part of that would be saving a certain amount a month so after the six-month period you would have a little fund started to help pay for therapy if you decided to go that route.
