Let me tell u about Bob. Bob likes Ferraris, always has, ever since he was a kid. He had dozens of posters growing up, each with a different Ferrari on it.

Time marches on. One day, as a young adult, Bob got a wake up call from that cruel beast 'Real Life'. That hideous monster said to Bob, "Welcome to real life. Time for a reality check, Bob. You've never owned a Ferrari. You've never driven a Ferrari. You've never even touched a Ferrari. And guess what, Bob? You're a plumber and plumbers don't drive Ferraris. You'll never own or drive or even touch a Ferrari. Your dream of owning a Ferrari is forever out of your reach so why don't you give up dreaming that impossible dream?"

Bob thought about it and decided that Real Life was correct. He was tired of dreaming a dream that had no hope of ever coming to pass.

But how was Bob supposed to stop dreaming of Ferraris? Everywhere he looked he saw a Ferrari, this guy with that Ferrari, another driving his Ferrari, etc....

Bob came up with a plan. He would get rid of all Ferraris. Not in reality but in his own mind. He would de-program Ferrari from his heart and soul. He started by not looking at them. Every time he saw a Ferrari out of the corner of his eye he'd turn his head in the opposite direction. This was very difficult at first. After all, guys look at and admire Ferraris. But it got easier over time.

Time marches on. Its been several years now and Bob hardly ever notices a Ferrari. But giving up a dream had unintended consequences. By giving up a dream Bob gave up on all dreams. He even gave up the ability to dream. As a matter of fact, Bob doesn't really live at all, he merely exists. A stagnant and dead existence in a vibrant and fluid world.

Bob's dead already, he's just waiting for his body to get the news and catch up.
