Now that your sis-in-law and baby are home... just wanted to say that looking back on my life, there was absolutley NO SWEETER TIME than when I brought my babies home from the hospital!

I don't even have to close my eyes to see the various bedrooms with one corner turned into a nursery, lights dimmed, everything smelling like baby powder or baby lotion... the hushed tone of wonderment at the new life, thinking that the little movements my babies made were perhaps dreams of Heaven, still.

Then feeding time... the incredible bond between mother and child as I nursed each of my babies. The world ceased to exist... there was nothing else in Heaven or Earth but that baby of mine... and me...

Then when John came along, it was Mommy, Daddy and Johnny... little, tiny, pink Johnny... Karla was blue the first time I saw her, but later in the nursery, I didn't recognize her as mine... but she was certainly the most beautiful baby in that nursery! That should have told me something, right? Well, at least I know I wasn't looking through my mother's eyes. She's STILL gorgeous!

When David came home, everything was blue, of course. I thought one time that even HE was blue! My mom and I both panicked until I took him out of his bassinette away from the blue blankets. LOL Just a reflection... Mom and I may have panicked, but everything was still in hushed tones... I can only translate that as AWE...

Hmmmm/sigh... I'd do it all over again... and then some!
