I'm totally with you there. I equate it with risking death—I actually feel like I'm risking death if I'm rejected (goes back to the whole self-harm thing I'm had problems with over the years).

But I'm going through what you're going through a few weeks ago. Now I'm in the f*** it stage. It just takes time.
