Heading for the wire (my T and I)
We've been galloping pretty easily down the backstretch for a while--we've found our rhythm, but now we're rounding the last curve before we flatten out and streak for home. I'm tempted to veer off course, to leave the track and run away. Maybe I can slip between the shadowy buildings and vanish into the fog. Maybe you will turn and realize you are running alone--where is she? I need you now to reach on back, grab my reins, please hold on tight. Help me stay the course.
