In restaurants like Subway, the employees wear plastic gloves. I know there's a basic hygiene reason for this, but I also like it because I just don't like other people touching my food or breathing on my food any more than they have to. For me, it's a boundary issue. This food is mine. I'm me. You're you.

The corollary is that sometimes I'll cook my own food without washing my hands first although I always wash my hands and use utensils while cooking for others. I even did this while working at a restaurant although most other employees did not. When I digest my food, I'm essentially spitting on it which is fine with me since it's my own spit.

I just find someone else touching my food gross regardless of whether or not they have germs. The exception being my girlfriend who can spit on my food for all I care.
