We all can take the harping here. Every man knows that.. There but for the grace of (insert your higher power) go I. Silence is not necessarily an indication of apathy. I think people are uncomfortable with things they either can't relate to or control. Disease happens to be both to a large degree. No one can truly feel your pain unless they've been in your shoes. So they remain silent for fear of making things worse.
