This is one that happens to me regularly. Several times when I couldn't get hold of an online friend or they promised something and reneged, I convinced myself that they were a figment of my imagination, not real in the slightest. I've also done this with "real" friends whose only communication for a long time is on-line. I need more than written word to believe someone is "really out there" after a while.
