I believe the key is to find a therapist you resonate with - a therapist who will listen and understand and not sit in judgment. It seems like you might have a T who is more directive or controlling. My T never offers advice except for suggestions on how to attend to my own emotions.

If therapy feels like a fight, then that is definitely the wrong T for you.
