gal,

I struggle with knowing how to take care of myself, or what safe means, when people say it. So I worked with my case worker to come up with a list of how I'm going to do just that. I'll share it with you. It's my check list on days when I'm not here right now, amongst other things.

Eat. 3 times a day. If you can, make it healthy, if not whatever. at least put food in your body.

Drink. Drink water. I forget the recommended dose but I aim for 4 or 5 glasses a day.

Sleep. No more than 9 hours a day, no less than 6 if that's possible.

Go Outside. If you can. I struggle with this, so even just putting a foot out the door, or going for a walk, or an appointment, or something. If I can't, I don't beat myself up about it, but I try to do it at very least.

Take Your Meds. Always, on schedule, no overdosing or under dosing. Take as prescribed.

Hygiene. Brush your teeth. Shave. shower or at least clean your face. It's amazing how much this helps.

Clean the House! This is my most important, because for me having a tidy house means having a tidy mind. If things are messy I'm automatically in a bad mood.

And last but not least. Keep a Routine. Keeping a schedule today makes it easier to get up tomorrow.

Hope that helps you figure out ways you can take care of yourself.
