May be needed for ICU delirium; 2-10 mg initially, depending on degree of agitation; if response inadequate, may repeat bolus q15-30min, sequentially doubling initial bolus dose; when calm achieved, administer 25% of last bolus dose q6hr; taper dose after patient is controlled

Tourettes disorder; 0.5-2 mg PO q8-12hr initially; if severe symptoms necessitate increased dosage, titrate upward to 3-5 mg PO q8-12hr; if patient remains inadequately controlled, daily doses up to 100 mg have been used (safety not determined)
