Teal has a good point about braceletts calling attention to the wrists. Part of the problem is that you know how the cut occurred. Unless there are horizontal stripes going up your arm, for all anyone else knows, you could have cut it opening a box or tripping and hitting something.
This may sound calloused, but self injury will eventually be noticed, and there are two choices. Stop the behavior or accept the fact that people will notice. I have my share of scars and have had people ask about them. (kind of rude in my opinion), but it goes with the territory.
Long sleeves and other attempts at hiding things don't always mean scars. I have a friend who has psoriosis. I've never seen him in short sleeves even in the hottest weather. There are also age spots, scars for reasons other than SI and birth marks. Any one of those things can be noticed and asked about. Just because someone doesn't SI, doesn't mean they don't have their share of secrets that they wouldn't want others to know about. Do the best you can within your limitations.
